Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has long been proclaiming that the southern border — which has been under invasion for years by more than 10 million illegal migrants — has been operationally secure (“Mayorkas impeached: House makes history with vote to embarrass DHS secretary,” web, Feb. 13).

In his public pronouncements, an ongoing “crisis” has not existed; there has been but a “challenge.”

Last Sunday, in a CNN interview, Mr. Mayorkas finally quacked that a southern border “crisis” indeed exists, his numerous lies to Congress under oath to the contrary notwithstanding, apparently.  This smug individual deserved House impeachment. Sadly, his Democratic cronies will not remove him from office.

At least Mr. Mayorkas’ ignominious conduct for refusing to execute U.S. immigration law will be publicly documented in an upcoming Senate trial — and as such, will become a permanent part of this nation’s history.
