Honda has issued a recall on 205,760 of its sport utility vehicles in the U.S. over an apparent fuel leak issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Thursday.
The agency said the recall affects Honda Pilot and Passport SUVs made from 2023-24.
According to the regulator, the filler neck tube might disconnect from the pipe, leading to a fuel leak. Such a leak is a serious safety hazard in an SUV, potentially leading to explosions, engine damage and reduced performance.
Affected customers can expect to be notified by the end of January, with Honda dealerships fulfilling repair requests on Pilots and Passports for free.
Thursday’s recall notice follows another fuel-related Honda issue from October when the company recalled 700,000 vehicles over a fuel pump issue. In that case, a manufacturing issue could have led to a cracked fuel pump.
