Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston is seeking divine intervention to keep him from turning the ball over after throwing three interceptions — including two that were returned for touchdowns — in a loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

The journeyman quarterback said he apologized to his teammates for his play, despite throwing for a Browns record 497 yards and four touchdowns in the defeat.

“It’s an opportunity to continue to glorify the Lord even through the toughest circumstances. I know I’m better than this,” the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft said after the game. “I’m just praying to the Lord to deliver me from pick sixes.”

No quarterback has thrown more interceptions than Winston in the last nine years, as he’s connected with opposing defenses 106 times in 103 games. His seven pick-sixes in 2019 remain an NFL single-season record.

Despite his trademark volatile play, Winston has outplayed fellow Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who started the first seven games before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. Winston has thrown for 1,763 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Browns to two of their three wins.
