Not all of life’s hard lessons should be avoided. Some — if not most — are actually the motivating factors that shine bright on God’s glory.

“If you had asked me when I was in my 20s if I was a Christian, I would have said yes,” said Billy Hallowell, an author, podcaster and media personality who covers culture and religion.

But there are Christians in name — and then there are Christians who truly walk with Christ. And it’s hard to be the latter, but as Hallowell says, infinitely more beneficial.

One of his implied words of wisdom?

Don’t necessarily flee the hard times.

It’s out of “loss and struggle,” he says, that God enters more intimately.
