Bologna and hot dog brand Oscar Mayer opened up the window Wednesday to apply to drive its iconic “Wienermobile” around the country.
Applications for the position of “Hotdogger,” a full-time, one-year gig that involves driving and maintaining the hot-dog shaped vehicle and promoting Oscar Mayer at events across America, will be open until Jan. 31, the brand’s parent company Kraft Heinz said in a release.
Oscar Mayer has conducted the “Hotdogger” program since 1988, aiming for recent college graduates looking to work as spokespeople and getting their foot in the door at the company. There have been 38 classes of Wienermobile drivers, said Mille Twing, Oscar Mayer senior brand manager, experiential.
“I can confirm the relished position is one of the most unique experiences available to college graduates today. With more than half of Gen Z aspiring to be an ‘influencer,’ our Hotdogger program is a great first step for anyone interested in exploring a career in social media or brand marketing,” Ms. Twing said.
The Wienermobile itself is decades older, first appearing in 1936.
Only 12 applicants are accepted into the program. According to a job listing, the selected applicants will appear at more than 200 events nationwide, and will appear both on local and social media for promotional purposes.
The job has a base salary of $35,600, a weekly allowance of $150, 18 days of paid time off, all hotel expenses covered and a full health-benefits package.
