Apple’s latest iPhone update adds ChatGPT support, integrating OpenAI’s famous chatbot with their devices.

As part of the update, which launched Wednesday, Apple’s Siri voice assistant will now have access to ChatGPT to improve user queries through text, voice or video. Additionally, iPhone users can generate text or video with ChatPGT through the device’s Writing Tools feature.

The new features are available on the iPhone 16, the latest edition, and the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 15.

The OpenAI-Apple partnership, first announced in June, marks an alliance between the world’s most popular cellphone company and the most valuable AI company. Earlier this year, OpenAI secured a $157 million valuation after a successful funding round.

Apple, notably, didn’t take part in the funding round, with the company receiving support from other tech giants such as Microsoft and Nvidia.

The partnership also comes during the Christmas shopping season, Apple’s busiest sales time. The company’s iPhone sales grew 6% over the holiday season in 2023, ending the year with 232 million units sold.
