President-elect Donald Trump said he will appoint Kimberly Guilfoyle to be ambassador to Greece amid tabloid reports that Donald Trump Jr. wants to be rid of Ms. Guilfoyle, his fiancee.
In a statement Tuesday evening, the president-to-be said that “for many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.”
There might be other factors at play.
Earlier on Tuesday, tabloid outlets reported that Donald Trump Jr. has been seen holding hands with another woman and is on the splits with Ms. Guilfoyle.
“The Trump family does not want to create an enemy in Kimberly,” one unnamed “insider” told the gossip site RadarOnline. “They are concerned about what damage she could do. But make no mistake, the romance is over.”
The unnamed source went on to say that the Trump family felt that Ms. Guilfoyle liked the “idea of being a Trump more than she liked” Don Jr.
Photos from Daily Mail show the soon-to-be first son spending time with socialite Bettina Anderson in West Palm Beach, going out to dinner with her, and spending time at her house.
Ms. Anderson has been dropping hints of her new relationship with photos to her Instagram for a while.
“I think you’re perfect,” said a card from the eldest Trump son to Ms. Anderson for her 38th birthday and shared on Instagram.
Mr. Trump has reportedly not been spotted with his fiancee since Nov. 12. They had been engaged since December 2020.
A Daily Mail story from September showed Mr. Trump and Ms. Anderson together in a Palm Beach restaurant, which apparently were shocking photos to Ms. Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality.
The insider told RadarOnline that the relationship between Mr. Trump and Ms. Guilfoyle during the campaign season was “all a show.”
“The appearances of Don and Kimberly are for the cameras,” the source said.
There has been no recent public comment from Mr. Trump or Ms. Guilfoyle on their engagement.
