A Caitlin Clark rookie card sold for $234,850 at Goldin Auctions on Monday, setting a new record for a women’s basketball card. The sale price falls just shy of a 2003 NetPro Serena Williams card that sold for $266,400 in 2022.

The record-breaking card, an autographed 1/1 2024 Panini Select Signatures Gold Vinyl, shattered the Indiana Fever guard’s previous mark for the most expensive women’s basketball card. The Iowa product’s Panini Instant Rookie of the Year 1/1 Blue Viper Autograph sold for $97,212 in October.

Caitlin Clark has not only elevated the entire league; she’s inspired a new generation of trading card collectors,” Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions, told ESPN. “This record-breaking sale — the second highest women’s sports card sale of all time, and the highest value achieved for a WNBA card — is a testament to her impact on the sport.”

The record-breaking cards are the latest in a trend for the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. In her first season as a professional, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft set league records for points, assists and three-pointers in a rookie campaign.

Clark has already started to capitalize on the memorabilia market. She signed a deal with trading card company Panini earlier this year that will pay her at least $1 million in the first year, according to Sportico. The company has already started selling a Clark-centered line of cards spotlighting individual moments from the 22-year-old’s collegiate and professional careers.
