President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Maryland on Thursday to discuss policy strides, the White House said, marking their first major appearance together since Mr. Biden dropped his reelection bid.
The administration on Friday said the pair would discuss the “progress they are making to lower costs for the American people.”
The White House said it would announce more details soon.
Mr. Biden, 81, has kept a relatively low political profile since dropping out of the race in July and endorsing Ms. Harris after weeks of Democratic pressure over his advanced age and abilities.
The pair welcomed American detainees back from Russia at Joint Base Andrews and had lunch together but haven’t engaged in major travel in public while Ms. Harris revs up her presidential campaign.
The Maryland trip suggests Mr. Biden will have some role in promoting Ms. Harris, particularly over joint policy wins.
Former President Donald Trump is tying Ms. Harris to the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, inflation and other black eyes for the Biden administration.
Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris have acknowledged the toll of high consumer prices but say they are the ones doing something to tackle them, from initiatives to slash drug costs to efforts to eliminate “junk fees” on travel.
