Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz raised $36 million in the first 24 hours after the Democratic presidential nominee announced him as her running mate.
Harris campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz announced the fundraising total in a post on X meant to signal enthusiasm behind the newly formed Harris-Walz ticket.
Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz raised $20 million in the first eight hours after the vice presidential pick announcement, according to Mr. Munoz.
The total is just under half of what Ms. Harris raised in the first 24 hours of her campaign for president after President Biden announced he was dropping out and endorsed her. The Harris campaign touted that $81 million total as the largest single-day haul of any candidate in history.
