House Speaker Mike Johnson dubbed Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the “most radical left-wing ticket in American history.”
“I look forward to highlighting the vast differences between their policies and the America First agenda that President Trump and Senator Vance are fighting for every day,” Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican, wrote on X.
He hit Ms. Harris on “failed” leadership, the open southern border, “unaffordable” life and wars.
“The most liberal ‘nominee’ to ever appear on a presidential ballot has now chosen a progressive running mate who has voiced support for socialism, supports sanctuary cities and wants to give driver’s licenses to the millions of illegal aliens Kamala Harris has allowed into our country,” he said. “No amount of spin from the campaign of the media can distract from the objective facts and the disastrous records of Harris and Walz.”
Ms. Harris chose Mr. Walz as her running mate Tuesday. He spent 12 years in Congress and has been governor since 2019.
In a statement, Ms. Harris called Mr. Walz a champion of rural, lower- and middle-class voters who will bring “principled leadership” to the campaign.
“One of the things that stood out to me about Tim is how his convictions on fighting for middle-class families run deep. It’s personal. As a governor, a coach, a teacher and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his own,” she said. “We are going to build a great partnership. We start out as underdogs, but I believe together we can win this election.”
The two are set to make their first appearance together at a rally in Philadelphia Tuesday before heading off on a campaign blitz to other battleground states.
