As stock markets tumbled Monday, former President Donald Trump labeled it the “Kamala Crash.”

“Of course there is a massive market downturn,” Mr. Trump said on social media, blaming President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down more than 800 points, or more than 2%, in trading by late Monday morning, continuing a slide that began Friday with a weaker-than-expected jobs report. Analysts have blamed a global sell-off and general concerns about a U.S. slowdown.

Recent weeks also have seen a slowdown in consumer spending.

Mr. Trump said it all belongs to the White House.

“Voters have a choice — Trump prosperity, or the Kamala crash & great depression of 2024,” he wrote.

The GOP nominee also warned about “the probability of World War III if these very stupid people remain in office.”

Ms. Harris has been trying to calibrate her economic message as she takes the reins of Democrats’ campaign.

“Bidenomics” has not sat well with voters who, despite a good jobs picture for the past few years, have faced punishing price increases that canceled out wage gains.
