Vice President Kamala Harris defended the Biden administration’s record on the economy, saying its policies lead to the fastest recovery from inflation in the world.
In her first interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, she blamed former President Donald Trump for wrecking the economy because he bungled the COVID pandemic.
“When Joe Biden and I came into office during the height of the pandemic, we saw over 10 million jobs were lost,” she told CNN. “The economy had crashed in large part because of mismanagement of that crisis.”
She said that the administration’s policies have brought inflation down to under 3%, created 800,000 manufacturing jobs and brought business back to America.
“There’s more to do, but that’s good work,” she said.
