Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris once called for Donald Trump to be censored by Big Tech.

In September 2019, when she was running for president in the Democratic primary, Ms. Harris said Mr. Trump, then the sitting president, should not have access to social media.

“Look let’s be honest, @realDonaldTrump’s Twitter account should be suspended,” she wrote.

Some of the top replies to Ms. Harris’ post included: “You running for President of China?”; “A tyrant in the works!”; and “Translated: ’I don’t like that someone who opposes me speaks so freely with this large of a platform and he needs to be censored.’”

Mr. Trump was kicked off Twitter, now called X, in 2021, in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

However, there had been years of demands that Mr. Trump and other mainstream conservatives be kicked off because liberals saw their speech as simple hate.

Before Trump-friendly tycoon Elon Musk purchased it and renamed it, Twitter and its moderation policies were set by and executed by left-leaning tech workers sympathetic to such claims about conservative speech and censorship efforts sometimes succeeded.
