Former President Donald Trump has added a second former Democrat to his transition team — former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has endorsed the GOP nominee.
“As President Trump’s broad coalition of supporters and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team,” Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes told Fox News Digital.
“We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team as we work to restore America’s greatness,” he said.
Mr. Kennedy said in an interview Monday with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he was also asked to join the transition team.
“I’m going to work to get him elected. I’m working with the campaign. We’re working on policy issues,” he said. “I’ve been asked to go on to the transition team, you know, to help pick the people who will be running the government, and I’m looking forward to that.”
Mr. Kennedy suspended his independent presidential campaign Friday and endorsed Mr. Trump. Just hours later, he joined Mr. Trump onstage at an Arizona rally where he talked about why he left the Democratic Party.
Ms. Gabbard left the Democratic Party in 2022, calling it an “elitist cabal of warmongers.”
She endorsed Mr. Trump Monday during Mr. Trump’s appearance at a National Guard conference in Detroit.
“I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or an independent,” Ms. Gabbard said. “If you love our country, as I do, if you cherish peace and freedom as we do, I invite you to join me in doing all that we can to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people.”
Ms. Gabbard ran against Vice President Kamala Harris in the Democratic primary in 2020. Her name was floated as a possible running mate for Mr. Trump during this election cycle.
