Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist who dabbles with the independents and Democrats — wherever the votes are, there he goes — said during a recent interview on ABC that there is a “crisis at the border.”

And this is interesting because socialists generally love open borders. So for a socialist to acknowledge America’s border is in “crisis” mode actually means the border is worse than most thought.

“We have a crisis at the border,” Sanders said. “We’ve got to make sure that fentanyl does not get into this country. We have to crack down on illegal immigration.”

That’s not just common sense.

It’s opposite of what Democrats — party of socialists and communists and collectivists — have been saying for years.

“Mayorkas tells Congress border ‘as secure as it can be,’ cannot ‘recall’ saying 85% of migrants are released into US,” the New York Post reported in April.

“Mayorkas tells Congress southern border is secure,” NewsNation reported in November 2022.

“Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas tells lawmakers ‘the border is not open’ amid migrant surge,” CNN reported in March 2021.

And this, from The Washington Free Beacon, in September of 2022: “17 Times the Biden Administration Said the Border Is Secure” — a headline that came at a time when the administration’s own Homeland Security reported a record-breaking number of 2.5 million immigrant encounters for that year.

Now that Vice President Kamala Harris is running for the high Oval Office, the border needs to be secured — apparently. And nobody knows that better than poll-watching, poll-fearing Harris herself.

Sanders’ remarks about the “crisis” at the border actually came in context of a question from ABC “This Week” host Jon Karl about the flip-flopping of Harris on, yes, you guessed it, the border.

From Real Clear Politics — Karl first asked, “And on immigration, when Harris ran for the Democratic nomination against you and others in 2020, she said she favored decriminalizing illegal border crossings. She even suggested she was — she would be in favor of abolishing ICE. Now, of course, she’s taking, at least rhetorically, a much tougher line on border security.”

Why is that, Sen. Sanders? Why such a “transformation?” Karl asked.

Sanders: “Well, I don’t think it’s a question of transformation. We have a crisis at the border.”

Yada yada, Blah blah. He then went on to push for “comprehensive immigration reform,” the Democrats’ special code phrasing for do nothing, but talk about it so low-information voters think you’re doing something.

It’s election time and that means Democrats will be pulling out the Constitution, dusting off their Bibles and pointing to fences at the border as if they’re good things — all the while hoping voters don’t recall it’s Donald Trump who built the fences.

What’s more astonishing about Democrats talking about border security, however, and a socialist acknowledging the “crisis” at the borders, is the failure of the media to hold these leftists accountable for border insecurity by asking one simple question: Weren’t you the ones in office allowing the border to swing wide open in the first place?

The only reason Democrats-slash-socialists are talking about the need for border security is they know it’s a top issue for American voters. Trust this: As soon as the election in November wraps, they’ll all be back to telling the American people the border is secure, the border is not open, the border is as secure as it can be.
