Some days, you dislocate your shoulder. Some days, you celebrate a career milestone. It’s rare that those two occasions would overlap, but that was the case for NASCAR Truck Series driver Layne Riggs on Sunday in Milwaukee.

The 22-year-old won his first Truck Series race in his 23rd start and promptly dislocated his shoulder while celebrating his victory.

“I was celebrating so hard. It hurts like a mother, but it was worth it,” Riggs told FOX: NASCAR after the injury. “It’s not the first time it’s happened to me, and it’s not going to slow me down.”

Riggs had already been eliminated from playoff contention but effectively played the spoiler during Sunday’s LiUNA 175. The North Carolina native took the lead midway through the race and held on for the final 53 laps. An overly enthusiastic post-race fist bump caused Riggs’ shoulder to pop out of place. His team helped the driver readjust the injured joint before they headed to Victory Lane.
