Travis Kelce’s big year marches on. Adam Sandler confirmed Tuesday that the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end will appear in “Happy Gilmore 2,” which will start filming next month.
The actor and producer didn’t provide any details about Kelce’s role, but noted the three-time Super Bowl champion would be featured in the golf-themed sequel.
“[Travis is] gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy,” Sandler said on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.” “You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.”
Appearing in a Sandler film is a childhood dream for Kelce.
“I’ll be a f—king extra … anything to get around ’Happy Gilmore,’ an Adam Sandler film or set,” Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast in June. “Count me in.”
“Happy Gilmore 2” is slated to start production in New Jersey and will premiere on Netflix. It doesn’t have a release date.
Kelce has become one of the most widely recognized celebrities. The 34-year-old has appeared on tour with his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, throughout the summer and parlayed that fame into a TV gig.
Amazon’s Prime Video announced this year that Kelce would host “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” It’s a spinoff of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”
Despite his off-field commitments, Kelce is still expected to start for the Chiefs this season. The defending NFL champions open their season Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.
