Kai Trump is about to be a Miami Hurricane. The 17-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump announced Sunday she’s committed to play golf at the University of Miami.
In an Instagram post confirming her commitment, the Republican presidential nominee’s eldest granddaughter thanked several family members for supporting her athletic dreams.
She wrote, “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support. … I am [super] excited to be a Cane and represent the University of Miami. Gooo Canes!”
The high school junior is not eligible to sign an official letter of intent until 2025, so her commitment is only verbal.
Kai Trump garnered national attention while delivering a speech at last month’s Republican National Convention. The golfer told the crowd that she shares a love for the game with her grandfather.
“When we play golf together, if I’m not on his team, he’ll try to get inside of my head, and he’s always surprised that I don’t let him get to me,” Kai Trump said at the Milwaukee event. “But I have to remind him, I’m a Trump, too.”
