Tom Cruise has had a busy summer. The “Top Gun” star was spotted cheering on the American women’s soccer team during their gold medal victory on Saturday and is expected to perform a high-octane stunt at Sunday’s closing ceremony in Paris, according to multiple reports.
The A-list celebrity was heavily featured during Saturday’s soccer broadcast, pumping his fist as the Americans scored a 1-0 victory over Brazil.
“Tom Cruise is to the USWNT what Taylor Swift is to Chiefs today,” X user Carly Mascitti wrote, referring to the way that NFL broadcasts used shots of Swift during last season’s NFL action.
“I’ve got some cracking photos of my family with Tom Cruise,” U.S. coach Emma Hayes joked after the match.
The 62-year-old has been spotted at gymnastic and swimming events throughout the Games and will be featured at Sunday’s closing ceremony, according to multiple reports. The NBC broadcast is expected to air prerecorded footage of Cruise skydiving onto the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles after the actor rappels from the top of the Stade de France while carrying the Olympic flag.
Cruise’s stunts are part of the ceremonial transition from one Olympics to the next. The “Mission: Impossible” star will mark the handover from Paris to Los Angeles, host of the 2028 Games.
