Nashville police said they arrested country singer Morgan Wallen early Monday after the musician threw a chair from a six-story rooftop bar for “no legitimate purpose.”

Authorities said Mr. Wallen, 30, faces charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after the airborne chair crashed a few feet away from two officers in the street below.

Police said the officers were standing in front of Chief’s Bar in downtown Nashville around 10:55 p.m. Sunday, when the chair fell in front of them.

Bar staffers and witnesses told the officers that Mr. Wallen threw the chair and surveillance footage from the bar showed the singer hurling an object off the roof, police said.

Mr. Wallen posted a $15,000 bond and was released from jail around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

The singer’s lawyer said Mr. Wallen is cooperating with police.
