Texas is busing illegal immigrants to New York City, but one of its lawmakers is calling for New York cops to pack their bags and move to the Lone Star State.
Rep. Beth Van Duyne, Texas Republican, will run a full-page ad in the New York Post on Tuesday urging law enforcement officers that it’s “time to escape New York and move to Texas.”
“Every New York Republican understands these courageous officers are put in impossible, life-threatening circumstances and I’m sure they want what is best for them — which may be to relocate to a law and order state like Texas,” Ms. Van Duyne told The Washington Times.
She said, “The vast majority of [Democratic representatives] from New York City are part of the defund the police, soft on crime, mass illegal immigration crowd who couldn’t care less about the lives and families of these brave officers.”
Ms. Van Duyne’s ad says that Texas is looking for good officers to fill its ranks, and addresses the recent murder of New York police officer Johnathan Diller, calling it an “utterly tragic loss.” The defendant charged with his murder is a repeat offender.
“Sadly, the corrupt and crumbling Empire State is so purposefully anti-law and order, that you should no longer put your careers and lives in the hands of politicians who couldn’t care less about you or your families,” the ad says.
Ms. Van Duyne accuses New Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of using New York law enforcement for photo ops.
“But more often, you’re a punching bag for these anarchists to use to satisfy their extremist base,” it says. “Your lives don’t have to be endangered by violent career criminals who are never locked away,” the ad states, referencing New York’s loose bail laws.
The Washington Times reached out to the offices of Ms. Hochul, Ms. James and Mr. Bragg for comment but did not immediately hear back.
The ad cites the Times Square beating of two NYPD officers in February and states, “You don’t have to be beaten on the streets by gangs of illegal immigrant criminals.”
Ms. Van Duyne suggests that New York law enforcement can leave their “Defund the Police” politicians.
She says, “It’s time for you to leave these loathsome and destructive fools behind. ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!”
The ad comes at a time when New York City is facing a crime wave as illegal immigrants are overwhelming city resources.
At the same time, the New York City Police Department and police departments across the country are facing staffing shortages.
