Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump raked in $50.5 million in campaign cash Saturday night, according to the Republican National Committee.
The massive figure, achieved at a fundraising event in Palm Beach, Florida, comes on the heels of President Biden bringing in $26 million at a star-studded New York fundraiser last month that included former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
The RNC described Mr. Trump’s fundraiser as “smashing every fundraising record in the book.”
“The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe,” said RNC Chair Michael Whatley and co-Chair Lara Trump.
The money also comes as Mr. Trump leads Mr. Biden in battleground polls but at a pivotal time for the Republican’s campaign. Mr. Biden and Democrats had roughly double the campaign cash on hand as Mr. Trump and Republicans, and the ex-president has been forced to use much of his fundraising on four separate criminal trials and acquiring a $175 million bond in his New York civil fraud case.
“Donald J. Trump is winning poll after poll and proving that the enthusiasm is on his side,” said campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles. “It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5.”
