President Biden on Wednesday took a metaphorical swing at his 2024 rival, former President Donald Trump.
During a campaign speech to North America’s Building Trades Unions, Mr. Biden unloaded on Mr. Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee.
“He looks down on union workers,” the president said of Mr. Trump. “It’s not that he doesn’t support us. He looks down on us.”
“Think about the guys you grew up with who you would like to get into a corner and give them a straight left,” Mr. Biden told the crowd. “I’m not suggesting we hit the president, but we all know guys like that growing up.”
Mr. Biden spoke at the union’s annual conference in Washington, where he picked up the organization’s endorsement. The NABTU has 2 million members nationwide and roughly 250,000 who live in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
