Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. will be developing a live TV streaming platform, the operator of Truth Social said Tuesday.
After six months of testing, the company will be rolling out its content in three different phases but did not provide a timeline. The first phase will introduce Truth Social’s content delivery network for streaming live TV to the app for Android, iOS and the web.
The second phase will include stand-alone Truth Social streaming apps for phones, tablets and other devices. The third phase will release a Truth Social streaming app for home TVs.
“The streaming content is expected to focus on live TV including news networks, religious channels, family-friendly content including films and documentaries; and other content that has been canceled, is at risk of cancellation, or is being suppressed on other platforms and services,” the release from the company said.
Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes said the streaming content aims to “provide a permanent home for high-quality news and entertainment that face discrimination by other channels and content delivery services.”
“There is a lot of great content that simply can’t find an audience for unjust reasons, and we want to let these creators know they’ll soon have a guaranteed platform where they won’t be canceled,” he said.
The former president’s media company hit a high when shareholders approved a merger between the company and a publicly traded shell company last month. The merger made the company publicly traded on Nasdaq under the ticker DJT.
However, the stock closed 18% lower on Monday, and after the announcement of the streaming platform plan, shares fell more than 10%.
Mr. Trump himself holds roughly 60% of the stock. Trump media announced Monday it would be selling 21.5 million more shares to the public to raise money after it announced that it lost $58 million in 2023 while making only $4.1 million.
