Conor McGregor will make his long-awaited return to the octagon this June at UFC 303, company CEO Dana White said Saturday.
McGregor will headline the June 29 event in Las Vegas with a fight against Michael Chandler.
The 35-year-old Irishman has not fought professionally since 2021 when he broke his leg during a match against Dustin Poirier. The former lightweight and featherweight champion has only fought in four MMA events since 2016, recording a single victory.
McGregor is one of the most acclaimed fighters in UFC history. He was the first man to hold two titles simultaneously after topping the lightweight division in 2016. The fighter pivoted toward an acting career, appearing in this year’s “Road House” remake alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
Chandler coached against McGregor in a recent season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” The 37-year-old boasts a 23-8 career record, but he hasn’t fought professionally since a 2022 loss to Poirier.
