Insurance provider USAA announced this week that it would be cutting 220 jobs as part of a larger restructuring effort.
The company, which provides insurance services exclusively to U.S. military members and their families, said it made the cuts to keep prices low for its customers.
USAA has not announced which departments have been cut.
“After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to eliminate approximately 220 roles,” USAA Director of Public Relations Roger Wildermuth said. “USAA continues to make necessary adjustments to run a healthy business and provide members with exceptional service and competitive prices.”
Despite the bad news for some workers, USAA said they are still hiring for some positions and have filled nearly 3,000 jobs this year alone. As of 2020, the company has around 36,000 employees and represents more than 13 million customers.
