Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene may be souring her relationship with former President Donald Trump as she threatens House Speaker Mike Johnson with a motion to vacate.

Trump insiders fear that sending the House into chaos over another ousted speaker could cause the GOP’s goal of holding onto the House and flipping the Senate to disintegrate, Politico reported.

“One hundred percent distraction. Unwanted. And just stupid,” one Trump insider told the outlet Wednesday. “We’re not going to get trapped into this cycle of bull—— that comes out of members of the House.”

“It’s fair to say we don’t think she’s being constructive,” another Trump insider said. “The internal fighting is not appreciated by [Mr. Trump].”

The aide added that such chaos is “no way to run a party; it’s no way to run a House.”

Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, filed the motion to vacate against Mr. Johnson last month as retaliation for supporting a bill that would continue spending billions on Ukraine, but has not yet called for a vote on it.

Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican, may have come up with his own way of staving off a motion to vacate: a joint press conference with Mr. Trump on election integrity.

The Friday event will be held at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Ms. Greene is a close Trump ally, and showing off the ties between Mr. Johnson and the former president might help stop her threats.
