California Gov. Gavin Newsom pooh-poohed Fox News host Sean Hannity’s question about whether he would run for president in 2024.

“Yes or no, will you ever, ever accept the Democratic nomination to run for president in 2024 under any circumstances at all? That’s a yes or no,” Mr. Hannity asked the governor after the presidential primary debate.

Mr. Newsom ducked the question by saying he was just in Chicago with the Democratic National Committee.

“I don’t need the long answer,” Mr. Hannity replied. “I want the yes or no answer.”

“Of course not. It’s a hypothetical,” Mr. Newsom said. “It’s ridiculous. Joe Biden is our president.”

Mr. Hannity got defensive and asked the governor if he was calling him ridiculous.

“No,” Mr. Newsom replied. “Biden is going to win this reelection.”

Mr. Newsom has said that he will not run in 2024 and has been a public supporter of another four years of the Biden-Harris administration, saying they have delivered a “masterclass” in how to get things done.

He might not be a candidate, but he has agreed to a “red vs. blue state” debate against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a GOP primary hopeful, in November that is set to be moderated by Mr. Hannity.
