The House will hold the first hearing of President Biden’s impeachment inquiry on Sept. 28, Republicans announced Tuesday.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, a Kentucky Republican whose panel will lead the probe, said the hearing will provide an overview of the evidence lawmakers have gathered so far that they believe shows Mr. Biden used the office of the vice president to help son Hunter Biden secure lucrative foreign business deals.

Mr. Comer announced the hearing as he prepares to issue subpoenas that will for the first time seek Biden family financial records.

“The hearing will focus on constitutional and legal questions surrounding the President’s involvement in corruption and abuse of public office,” a panel spokesperson told The Washington Times.

Mr. Comer plans to subpoena the personal and business bank records of Hunter Biden and Mr. Biden’s younger brother, James Biden, as early as next week.

Hunter Biden and James Biden both leveraged their relationship to then-Vice President Biden in securing business deals that netted them millions of dollars.

The elder Mr. Biden said he was not involved in any of those deals and none of the financial records or witness testimony directly links him to the transactions.

But House investigators have gathered testimony and other evidence that Mr. Biden called in or stopped by Hunter Biden’s business meetings and James Biden touted his powerful brother with prospective business partners, court records have documented.

The Oversight panel has accounted for $20 million in payments to Biden family members and associates from deals cut with business associates in China, Russia, Ukraine and other countries.
