Count presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy among the Republicans who are open to former President Trump becoming the next speaker of the House.

Responding to the GOP calls for Mr. Trump to seize the House gavel, Mr. Ramaswamy said, “This isn’t crazy.”

“We need to shake things up in there,” he said on social media.

For his part, Mr. Trump told reporters Wednesday that his chief focus is on winning back the White House.

“I will do whatever it is to help, but my focus, my total focus is being president, and quite honestly making America great again because we are living in a country in decline,” Mr. Trump said.

Mr. Ramaswamy has arguably been Mr. Trump’s staunchest defender in the 2024 GOP primary race. In the first GOP debate, he described Mr. Trump as “the best president of the 21st century.”

The 38-year-old former biotech executive has anchored his campaign on the idea that he can take Trumpism and the Make America Great Again movement to the next level.
