Former President Donald Trump mixed up Sioux City, Iowa, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, while at a stump speech in the Hawkeye State.

“Thank you very much. Very big hello to a place where we’ve done very well, Sioux Falls,” he said Sunday at the rally in Sioux City. Thank you very much.”

After Iowa state Sen. Brad Zaun gave a few remarks, he corrected the former president, telling him, “It’s Sioux City, not Sioux Falls.”

To apply the correction, Mr.Trump then asked the crowd how many people came from Sioux City.

“So Sioux City, let me ask you, how many people come from Sioux City?” he said.

Last month, Mr. Trump mixed up former President Barack Obama and President Biden. He also said Mr. Biden would lead the United States into “World War II.”

The news media and voters have sharpened the focus on gaffes by Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden.

Polls have shown that the public is growing increasingly concerned about Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump’s age and their ability to serve. Mr. Biden would be 82 when he began his second term if he won the election, and 86 when it would come to a close. Mr. Trump would start his term as a 78-year-old but would end the term in his 80s.

An August poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that out of the 1,165 adults surveyed, 77% said that Mr. Biden, 80, was too old to be running for re-election, while 51% said that Mr. Trump, 77, was too old.

Mr. Trump is the leading presidential candidate in the polls, beating out others in the Republican Party and Mr. Biden.
