WILMINGTON, Del. — Fighter jets were scrambled after a civilian aircraft violated restricted airspace while President Biden was visiting Wilmington, Delaware.
Secret Services spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said that the aircraft violated the airspace north of Wilmington shortly after 2 p.m on Saturday.
“As a precaution, assets were scrambled to intercept and the civilian aircraft safely landed at a nearby airport,” Mr. Guglielmi said.
Mr. Guglielmi said that Mr. Biden’s visit home to Wilmington was not impacted. The Secret Service and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
