Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib for “antisemitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations and leading an insurrection” at the Capitol.

Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, accused the Michigan Democrat, a member of Congress’ far-left “Squad,” as leading a pro-Palestinian insurrection on Capitol Hill last week. Hundreds of protesters flooded the Cannon House Office Building calling for a cease-fire while yelling statements like “let Gaza live” and donning shirts and waving signs that read, “Jews say cease fire now.”

Reports said roughly 300 people were arrested during the protests. Three were charged with assault on a police officer during processing, according to the Capitol Police’s X page.

Ms. Tlaib, who is of Palestinian descent, spoke at the protest, where she blamed Israel for the explosion in Gaza near a hospital that reports later said was caused by a misfiring missile from a Jihad group associated with Hamas. She faced backlash after she didn’t take back her statement.

“Tlaib led a pro-Hamas insurrection into the Capitol complex, has repeatedly displayed her anti-Semitic beliefs, and shown her hatred for Israel,” Ms. Greene wrote on X on Thursday.

“She must be held accountable and censured,” she wrote in the post that featured a clip of her introducing the resolution on the House floor Thursday.

Ms. Greene filed the motion as a privileged resolution to force the House to vote on it within two legislative days.

In the resolution, Ms. Greene lists other instances of “antisemitic activity” from Ms. Tlaib, including in 2019 when she said she celebrated the Holocaust and felt a “calming feeling” when thinking of the genocide of the Jewish people.

The resolution also mentioned Ms. Tlaib calling Israel’s government an “apartheid government” and saying the “path to the future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.”

In a statement Thursday, Ms. Tlaib called Ms. Greene’s resolution “unhinged” and “deeply Islamophobic,” saying it “attacks peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates.”

“I am proud to stand in solidarity with Jewish peace advocates calling for a cease-fire and an end to the violence. I will not be bullied, I will not be dehumanized, and I will not be silenced,” she said. “I will continue to call for cease-fire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, for the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained, and for every American to be brought home.”

She said, “I will continue to work for a just and lasting peace that upholds the human rights and dignity of all people, and ensures that no person, no child has to suffer or live in fear of violence.”
