A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency bus on Thursday.
The collision occurred at around 12:51 a.m. local time, the San Francisco Police Department told local news site SFGate.com.

Officers arrived and declared the victim dead on site. The bus driver stayed at the scene of the crash and was cooperative, police said.
Neither the name of the driver nor the name of the deceased was released, pending the notification of the latter’s next-of-kin.
SFMTA spokesperson Erica Kato told the San Francisco Chronicle that the Muni bus collision occurred on the 49 route. Traffic along Van Ness Avenue where the crash occurred was stopped for several hours as police investigated the incident.
The road was reopened at around 8:18 a.m., per a post from the San Francisco Fire Department on X.
Van Ness is now open in both directions at O’Farrell from an earlier SFPD investigation.
