Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has come up with a new nickname for Congress’ Democratic “Squad,” calling them the “Hamas Caucus” after the progressive lawmakers called for an “immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine.”

“The Palestinian Lives and Israel genocide narrative is the new Black Lives Matter,” the Georgia Republican wrote on X on Tuesday. “And the Hamas Caucus is starting it now. They have voted every time for funding war in Ukraine but now are calling for peace in Gaza but make no mistake they are Pro Hamas and against Israel.”

The post featured a photo of Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota in front of a Palestinian flag with the words “Hamas Caucus” above their heads.

On Monday, Ms. Bush, along with fellow Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib or Michigan, Andre Carson of Indiana, Summer Lee of Pennsylvania and Delia Ramirez of Illinois, introduced the “Ceasefire Now Resolution,” calling for the Biden administration to “immediately call for and facilitate deescalation and a cease-fire,” and “promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”

Support for Israel has been bipartisan, with only a few liberal members calling for an end of aid to Israel. The Biden administration is working on a $100 billion aid package that would support Israel and Ukraine.

President Biden announced a plan to send $100 million to Gaza and the West Bank after meeting with Israeli leaders in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The money would be for civilians caught in the middle of the Israel-Hamas war.

“We must do everything we can to save lives,” Ms. Bush said in her X post about the legislation Monday.

“What do you think Israel is doing?” the Israel War Room replied to her post. “It’s working to dismantle a terrorist organization that has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians from all over the world.”

Squad members have been attacked by their colleagues in Congress for their statements calling for an end of aid to Israel and an immediate cease-fire since Hamas launched its surprise attack on Oct. 7.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, told the Squad to “shut the hell up” last week in an interview with Fox News.

“You’re emboldening the enemy. You’re a disgrace to the United States Congress,” he said. “You’re siding with terrorists over a democracy called Israel. You have lost your perspective here. I’m confident most Democrats do not agree with the Squad.”
