The Biden campaign on Monday joined Truth Social, the web platform launched by former President Donald Trump in hopes of converting supporters of the former commander-in-chief into Biden voters.

“Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converters welcome,” the campaign wrote in the first post under the handle @BidenHQ.

A second post featured a video of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican seeking his party’s 2024 nomination, blasting Mr. Trump’s record on the national debt.

Campaign officials say the goal of the account is to combat disinformation about Mr. Biden that may appear on Truth Social.

“A thing about campaigns is sometimes you just do things for the lols,” Rob Flaherty, the Biden campaign’s digital strategy director, wrote on X to explain the decision to join Truth Social.

Mr. Trump founded Truth Social in 2021 after he was suspended from what was then known as Twitter in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Since the suspension, Mr. Trump has posted nearly all of his social media messages on the platform. He has over six million followers.

In a little under an hour, the @BidenHQ account had 877 followers.
