Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House

OPINION:

I’ve been a strong supporter of Congressman Jim Jordan since his first run for Congress in 2006 because he’s a unique talent and an effective leader who is determined to save America.  

Year after year and fight after fight, Jim Jordan has never let me down. Congressman Jordan is a rare breed in Washington because he’s in office for the right reasons.  At his core, Jim is a principled constitutional conservative who wants a smaller, more streamlined federal government that does a few things well instead of many things poorly. He believes the Bill of Rights is worth defending and that Congress must prioritize fiscal responsibility, regular order, and balanced budgets. Congressman Jordan understands that a country without borders is not a country.  And Jim Jordan knows that a weaponized system of justice is incompatible with a constitutional republic. 

Jim Jordan has a proven record of accomplishments in the U.S. House and, even more importantly, has never once backed down from a challenge. When it was time to take on President Obama and the disastrous Obamacare program, Jim Jordan articulated why Americans can do far better than government-administered bureaucratic health care.  

When it was time to investigate Obama’s Internal Revenue Service for targeting conservative Americans in the wake of Citizens United’s Supreme Court victory for free speech, Jim Jordan led the charge. When it was time to confront the Obama-Biden Administration’s out-of-control spending habits, Jim Jordan stepped up to help make much-needed fiscal constraints a reality.  And when it was time to shine a light on Hillary Clinton’s failures in Benghazi, Jim Jordan said sign me up.  

When it became necessary to organize a caucus in the U.S. House for conservative reformers who opposed the failed status quo in Washington, D.C., Jim Jordan helped form the Freedom Caucus and served as its first leader. When others turned their back on the ultimate political outsider, Donald Trump and his America First principles, Jim Jordan joined the movement.  When it was discovered that the Obama-Biden Administration was trying to frame candidate Trump with a phony Russia hoax, Jim Jordan asked the tough questions and never stopped demanding answers.  And as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan led the effort to pass the strongest border security bill in our nation’s history.  

For the past sixteen years, through all the political battles that conservatives care about, Jim Jordan has been on the frontlines.  Now, conservatives have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to see one of their own become Speaker of the House. Congressman Jordan enjoys extraordinary grassroots support in congressional districts across the country; he is truly the people’s choice to lead the People’s House. For the few Republican Members of Congress considering a vote against Jim Jordan for Speaker on the House floor, they must understand that a vote against Jordan is a vote against their constituents.  

With a Speaker Jim Jordan, Americans will get honest and principled leadership. He’ll fight for what he believes in but will never close his door to opposing voices and opinions. First and foremost, Jim Jordan has credibility when it comes to reforming Washington’s addiction to wasteful government spending.  

Congressman Jordan will focus with a sense of urgency on getting our fiscal house in order as we teeter on financial oblivion.  Jim Jordan will also fight day in and day out to secure our southern border once and for all.  When Jim Jordan talks about the fentanyl crisis, the national security crisis and the humanitarian crisis that’s taking place, Americans will listen.  When it comes to Biden family corruption, Speaker Jordan will empower his committee chairs to engage in aggressive congressional oversight to hold Joe Biden and his Constitution-wrecking administration accountable.  And Jim Jordan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Israel.     

These are the times when we need our best and brightest to step up, and I thank my friend Congressman Jordan for doing just that. In these challenging times, Jim Jordan is the ideal choice for Speaker of the House.
