Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said the United States must stand with Israel’s push to eliminate Hamas and ignore the calls for restraint until the job is done.
Ms. Haley, a former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., said the expected Israeli ground invasion into the Gaza Strip will be met with outcry from some countries and Americans — but the U.S. must not waiver.
Pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel demonstrations have already erupted across the U.S., especially on college campuses.
“We are supporting Israel now because they have been hit, but the more important part is we have to support them when they hit back as well,” she said on Fox News. “Don’t tell them to stop.”
“They saw too much death, they saw too much destruction and Hamas will do it again,” she said. “We have to eliminate them, regardless of who they try to intimate us.”
Ms. Haley has been climbing in the GOP presidential polls but is still running far behind former President Donald Trump.
Ms. Haley, who is also a former governor of South Carolina, has seized on the deadly Hamas attack as a chance to showcase the foreign policy experience she gained at the U.N.
