President Biden is leading former President Donald Trump by just one point, according to a new poll.
The poll from Fox News also found that Mr. Biden trails former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley by four points and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis by two.
Fox News noted that this is the first time in its polling for the 2024 presidential race that Mr. Trump has fared worse against Mr. Biden than the other Republican candidates.
The former president is still the top candidate for the GOP. He received 59% of support from the party’s voters in the poll while Mr. DeSantis was a distant second with 13%.
Ms. Haley finds herself in third with 10% and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy lands fourth with 7%. The remaining candidates — former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott all have less than 5%, according to the poll.
Democratic primary voters are less confident with their choice for the party’s nominee than Republicans. Forty-five percent say they want to keep Mr. Biden, but 53% would prefer someone else. Eighty-two percent of Republican primary voters say they’re satisfied with their candidate choices.
More Democrats find Mr. Biden to be out of touch at 30% than Republicans say about Mr. Trump at 24%. Independents find Mr. Biden at 81% to be more out of touch than Mr. Trump at 68%.
The poll was conducted Oct. 6-9 with 1,007 registered voters nationwide. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for the full sample and plus or minus 4.5 percentage points for the primary voters registered Democrat or Republican.
