The Israel Defense Forces said it has sealed the border with the Gaza Strip, three days after Hamas terrorists destroyed sections of the barrier and launched an invasion that has resulted in more than 1,000 Israelis killed or kidnapped.
The IDF set up minefields in the area around the breaches as a stopgap measure against further incursions, The Times of Israel newspaper reported Tuesday.
Meanwhile, about 300,000 Israeli military reservists have been called up for an expected ground invasion of the Gaza Strip as the search continues for enemy militants feared to be hiding inside Israel.
An IDF spokesman said the bodies of 1,500 terrorists have been located around southern Israel. By Tuesday, more than 4,500 rockets had been fired from Gaza, striking over 1,300 targets inside Israel.
