Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said impeaching President Biden would be a “political disaster” for House Republicans.
“To impeach Joe Biden in the House, knowing it’s not going to go to the Senate — there’s no point,” Mr. Huckabee told Real America’s Voice on Monday. “All it becomes is a political disaster.”
Mr. Huckabee warned that Republicans should not move to impeach Mr. Biden without the support of some Democrats. Until then, he said, Republicans should just “focus on a message that gets us elected and reminding people how much better off they were when Donald Trump was president than they have been since Joe Biden has taken the reins.”
“Until that happens, the best thing Republicans can do is keep dribbling out the information of Joe’s ties to the Communist Chinese Party and business deals,” Mr. Huckabee said.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched the impeachment inquiry against Mr. Biden in September, saying the House investigations into the Biden family uncovered a “culture of corruption.”
“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” the California Republican said at the time. The inquiry is to see what role Mr. Biden played in his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings while he was vice president.
Earlier this month, Speaker Mike Johnson, Louisiana Republican, said the inquiry has his “full and unwavering support.”
He praised the work of House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican; House Oversight Chair James Comer, Kentucky Republican, and Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith, Missouri Republican, for their work on the inquiry.
Mr. Biden has said that he was not involved with his son’s business dealings.
