Vice President Kamala Harris was roasted on social media over her Thanksgiving photo, which shows her posing next to a gas-fired stove even as the Biden administration seeks to crack down on the appliances.

Ms. Harris posted a photo on X featuring her and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff in the kitchen with pans of foil-covered food alongside a stovetop that was distinctly not electric.

“From our family to yours, happy Thanksgiving,” said Ms. Harris on X.

It didn’t take long for social-media commentators to accuse the veep of hypocrisy, given the Energy Department’s proposed efficiency standards on gas and electric stoves that would result in at least half of gas stovetops being out of compliance.

“Rules for Thee, Not for Me: Twitter Notices Hypocritical Kamala Harris Has a Gas Stove,” said Twitchy Team.

Said actor and author Kevin Sorbo: “I thought gas stoves were bad for the environment.”

Florida state Rep. Berny Jacques compared the Biden administration’s proposed crackdown to the law signed in June by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis protecting gas stoves from local government restrictions.

“Meanwhile they want you to give up your gas stoves, while they live it up with theirs,” Mr. Jacques told Florida Voice. “Friendly Reminder: not only will gas stoves remain legal in Florida, we also made them tax free!”

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm has denied that the administration is seeking to ban gas stoves, insisting that only about half of those on the market would be out of compliance, but her assurances failed to alleviate the concerns of House Republicans.

The House passed legislation in June aimed at blocking the administration from implementing the efficiency standards, accusing the White House of catering to climate activists.

The Dank Knight account on X blasted Ms. Harris, saying “I was repeatedly told by this administration gas stoves are the greatest threat to climate change. Strange that they’d try to make these illegal for us dumb peasants then shove it in our faces when they want to humble brag.
