The remains of a Guatemalan national missing since June were found buried in the backyard of a San Fernando Valley home, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Wednesday.
The family of Carlos DeLeon, 35, had not heard from him since mid-June. The LAPD became involved in the search for DeLeon earlier this month, and went to recover the remains from a residence in North Hills, California, on Tuesday.
Police accuse Russell Robinson, 48, who lives at that residence, of being responsible for DeLeon’s death.
A structure at the back of the property was removed along with a concrete foundation, LAPD said, under which DeLeon’s remains were found.

“This is a very large property. It’s roughly an acre. To the rear of the area near the swimming pool, there were some areas that had recent alterations and that led us to believe that area may have been involved,” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said, according to KCBS-TV.
Mr. Robinson was arrested and charged with murder.
