Israel on Sunday accused Hamas of killing an abducted soldier after she was injured in an Israel Defense Forces attack on Nov. 9 that killed the terrorist holding her hostage.
IDF officials said Cpl. Noa Marciano, 19, was being held in a Hamas hideout apartment near the Shifa Hospital among some 240 people who were abducted Oct. 7, when the Palestinian militant group rampaged into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip. She was at a military base near Gaza when it was overrun.
Based on a preliminary pathological report and intelligence gleaned from the battlefield, IDF officials said the soldier’s injury from the strike wasn’t considered life-threatening.
“She was murdered by a Hamas terrorist in the Shifa hospital,” IDF officials said on the Telegram social media site.
Cpl. Marciano was one of two hostages whose bodies were found last week near the hospital. The other was Yehudit Weiss, 65, a mother of five who was abducted from Kibbutz Be’eri, located near the Palestinian enclave. Both were discovered in different buildings near the hospital.
“The IDF and the (Israeli Security Agency) share in the grief of the bereaved families and will continue to accompany them at all times,” Israeli officials said. “The IDF will continue to act and take advantage of every opportunity to return the hostages and missing persons home.”
