Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group has launched at least 1,000 rocket and missile attacks at Israel since Oct. 7, and Tehran appears to be ramping up its proxy war against the Jewish state, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Sunday.
On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces said they intercepted “a number” of rocket attacks by using their air defense systems while several of the terrorist missiles fell into open areas. At least three Hezbollah drones struck near an IDF post, causing no injuries, IDF officials said on the Telegram social media page.
Mr. Gallant said the terror group is paying a heavy price for firing into northern Israel. On Monday, IDF tanks, jet fighters and helicopters struck what Israeli officials called Hezbollah terror infrastructure in Lebanon.
“We’re thwarting (missile and rocket) squads and hitting military assets and targets,” Mr. Gallant said, according to the Times of Israel newspaper.
While Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south may be pulling the triggers, Tehran is behind the wave of attacks against Israel, Mr. Gallant told reporters.
“Iran is the root of hostility and aggression against the state of Israel. The war is multifront, even though its intensity is focused on Gaza,” he said.
