The cratering sales of Bud Light have claimed the career of another top-ranking Anheuser-Busch official.

Benoit Garbe, the U.S. chief marketing officer for the beer giant, is resigning at the end of the year “in order to embark on a new chapter in his career,” the company said in a statement to CBS MoneyWatch.

U.S. Chief Commercial Officer Kyle Norrington will oversee Anheuser-Busch’s U.S. marketing after the departure of Mr. Garbe, who joined the company in 2021.

“These senior leadership changes will accelerate our return to growth as we continue to focus on what we do best — brewing great beer for everyone and earning our place in moments that matter,” Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth said in the statement.

The move is not the first major change in the company’s marketing departments since a vigorous public backlash responded to a promotion featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Bud Light sales fell by 20%-30% this year, depending on the metric used or period covered. The brand also lost its status as the top-selling beer in the U.S. — a title it had held for over 20 years.
