Recent polling combined with the votes for abortion and recreational marijuana in Ohio show that the moral decline of America is on a fast-track, and if politics are downstream from culture, the threat to individual liberties is massive.

That’s because a nation of immoral people is a nation that relies on government to impose a peaceful society.

As founders warned, American individualism, American liberties, God-given liberties cannot last if Americans are immoral and devoid of virtue. It’s only the moral, after all, who are capable of self-governing.

Ohio’s 57% percent majority vote to make abortion a constitutional right, and 57% vote to allow for recreational use of marijuana are somewhat shocking indicators of where the moral compass of America stands.

As Steve King, former congressman from Iowa and author of “Walking Through the Fire: My Fight for the Heart and Soul of America,” says: These voters are under the impression that voting for abortion on demand and recreational marijuana represent stands for individual liberty.

They do not. They represent voters for immoral behaviors. But this is American culture, circa 2023.

Americans ought to look to history and, say, Rome, to see what happens when a society’s culture collapses.
