Maryland Gov. Wes Moore gave unsolicited advice Sunday to Sen. Joe Manchin III, saying the retiring West Virginia Democrat would be “foolish” to run against President Biden.

Mr. Manchin, who has not ruled out the possibility, said last week he would travel the country after his term expires in January 2025 in hopes of uniting moderates.

“I would urge him not to mar his legacy by getting involved in something so foolish,” Mr. Moore said on ABC’s “This Week.” “No Labels literally has no plan, has no path, has no policy platform. They don’t even have a candidate.”

No Labels is the centrist political group toying with the notion of running a bipartisan “unity ticket” against Mr. Biden. The organization praised Mr. Manchin’s decades-long political career after he announced he would not seek reelection next year but said it’s still weighing its options in terms of a challenge to Mr. Biden

“It’s one thing to say, ’we’re going to rail against the system,’ and it’s another thing to actually work to make systems better,” Mr. Moore said. “That’s what I think President Biden has continued to show.”
