Sen. John Fetterman upset protesters calling for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas by waving an Israeli flag outside the Russell Senate Office Building.
The protesters yelled boos and shouted “Shame!” as Mr. Fetterman left the building with the flag.
“JohnFetterman saw veterans getting arrested and laughed,” the veterans group About Face posted Thursday on social media alongside a video of the Pennsylvania Democrat walking and waving the flag.
“We asked to see @SenGillibrand. We were put in cuffs. We need leaders who listen to veterans demanding a #CeaseFireNow,” the post said.
Some members of the group were arrested Thursday for protesting in the Capitol office of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, New York Democrat.
“What a joke!” some of the protesters were heard yelling at Mr. Fetterman, while others shouted that he supports genocide.
“You do a disservice to Pennsylvania!” another yelled.
Mr. Fetterman has been unwavering in his support of Israel. He said last month that “now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire.”
“Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel,” he wrote on X on Oct. 18. “We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.”
Outside his office in the Russell Senate Office Building, he displays photos of kidnapped Israelis.
“My office will display every last one of the innocent Israelis kidnapped by Hamas until they are safely returned home,” he wrote last month on the social media site. “We won’t stop sharing their stories until then.”
